1. Understand the key components and purpose of mechanical ventilation in patients with respiratory failure.
2. Differentiate between the types of mechanical ventilation modes: volume-controlled, pressure-controlled, and assisted ventilation (SIMV).
3. Gain proficiency in adjusting ventilator settings (tidal volume, respiratory rate, FiO2, PEEP) based on patient needs.
4. Develop skills in recognizing and managing ventilator alarms, troubleshooting equipment issues, and intervening appropriately.

5. Learn the process and criteria for weaning patients off mechanical ventilation, including assessing readiness, conducting spontaneous breathing trials, and safely extubating patients.
