Course Objectives:

• Describe proper use and handling of surgical instruments.
• Demonstrate different skin suturing techniques.
• Demonstrate knot tying techniques, vessel ligation and transfixation.
• Demonstrate abdominal wall closure.
• Demonstrate abscess incision and drainage and lipoma excision.
• Demonstrate the basic techniques of small bowel anastomoses.
• Demonstrate chest tube insertion and management.
• Demonstrate an understanding of electrocautery.
• Learn the principles of laparoscopy , and demonstrate proper handling of laparoscopic instruments including hands-on training.
